Project Status Report - December 30, 1998
Holiday Decorations (Design) - We have received many compliments about the White Lights on the trees and in stores. MANY THANK YOU's to Pat Kelly, the Town Crew, the Fire Department volunteers and Bell Atlantic for making it all happen! Thank you to Dalton Mountain GMC for sponsoring the lights!
Olde Tyme Christmas (Promotion) - This event was a huge success. Retailers were pleased with the turnout. Over 300 people enjoyed the hay ride and the Girl Scouts took over 100 pictures of tiny tots sitting on Santa's lap. THANKS SANTA!
Joint Promotion (Promotion) - Eight retailers participated in the Joint Promotion which began the week after Thanksgiving. The group chose the theme "Shop in Lancaster, Welcome Home". The campaign included four weeks of advertising in up to 5 newspapers and WXXS Kiss Radio. The Promotion Committee hopes to do another joint effort in 1999.
RiverWalk (Design) - The Design Committee will be working on plans for the RiverWalk over the winter. The next Renaissance Committee meeting (see meeting notice) will focus on Lancaster's' Recreation Trails. Anyone involved with creating trails in Lancaster should attend.
Economic Restructuring: The ER Committee will be focusing much of its energy in 1999 toward investigating ways to rebuild the vacant lot on Main Street. Anyone interested in participating may attend the ER Com. meetings (see meeting schedule)
Information Booth / Interpretive Visitor Center - The Work Team has finished evaluating the three possible locations for an expanded information services center. The Work Team will be presenting its recommendations to the Selectman on January 4 at 7:30pm at the Town Hall. We have just recieved notice that we have been fully funded at $80,000 by the Scenic ByWay grant to do this project!
